Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave an update in Simcoe County on the Canada Child Benefit today.
Today marks a year since the money started flowing.

He says not only are parents getting support from their government, but the money is getting into the right hands.

ANGUS FARMERS MARKET

The Angus Farmers Market is up and running again today (jul 20).
The Farmers Market offers, fresh locally grown produce, eggs, dog treats, local crafts and bath and body products.
The market runs all summer long on Thursdays from 4pm-8pm in front of the Essa Public Library.

The Georgian Bay Steam Show is coming back to Cookstown.
The first was back in 1966 and according to the Editor of the Georgian Bay Steam Show Newsletter, Jeff Blaney, one thing has stayed the same

The show takes place each Civic Day Long Weekend in August in Cookstown.

TOTTENHAM DQ STILL SEARCHING FOR NEW HOME

There is still no word on where or when the Dairy Queen in Tottenham will re open.
It was announced on Twitter this week the store had closed.
Ownership says it was a combination of their lease expiring and the DQ needing a bigger space.

FIRE LEAVES INNISFIL FAMILY HOMELESS

Fire destroyed a home in Gilford yesterday (jul 19).
Innisfil fire crews were called to the home on Gilford Road after a passerby saw flames coming through the roof of the home.
Despite the best efforts of firefighters the home was completely destroyed.

The PM will be back in Simcoe County today (jul 20).
Justin Trudeau will be in Barrie this morning for a photo op and to make an announcement about the Canada Child Benefit.

TRIPLE STABBING IN COOKSTOWN

South Simcoe say three people were stabbed by someone with a screwdriver.
Police say the incident happened at a plaza in Cookstown and two of the three victims were taken to hospital while the third was treated at the scene.

UTOPIA HALL GRIST MILL RUN UPCOMING

The Utopia Hall Gristmill run is a few weeks away.
It's all part of an effort to help save and restore Bell's Gristmill which predates Confederation.
Chair of Friends of the Utopia Mill and Park, Susan Antler, says everyone can take part.

The provinces Special Investigations Unit has launched an investigation into two South Simcoe Police officers.
No charges have been laid
The SIU are looking into an incident that happened back on July 7.

POT PLANT TO OPEN NEAR LISLE

The Tragically Hip have made a local investment.
A Brantford based company has bought Enderlein Nurseries on the Mulmer-Tosorontio Townline southwest of Lisle to construct a medical marijuana facility.
Newstrike Resources acquired the former rose producer several weeks ago.
